Are you interested in a career as a web developer?

Starttipaketti web-kehitykseen is a software development training program organized by Buutti and the TE-office of Northern Ostrobothnia, that will provide you with the skills you need to get started on your web development career.

This training provides you with the opportunity to learn the basics of modern web development without any prior experience on the matter. In the training, you’ll learn the most important skills of a web developer, and get practical experience in, for example, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and react. In addition to technologies, the program contains version management, project working and UI/UX planning.

The 80-day training consists of two parts: the basics of programming and web development (57,5 days) and programming project (22,5). In the first part the focus is on personal learning through lectures and practice assignments, and the second part is a programming project that you’ll work on either by yourself or as a part of a group. The guidance and support of our trainers is always available, and your progress will be monitored through career development days and one-on-one conversations with the trainers.

What will you gain from the training?

There is a massive need for capable programmers. The companies in the IT-sector are constantly looking for new professionals, and web development skills are very valuable on the job market. After the training you’ll have everything you need to apply for more advanced development training or work in trainee-level positions in multiple IT organizations.

The training includes 4 personalized career development days, during which you will create a plan for your future to support your employment as well as receive guidance in, for example, crafting your CV or updating your LinkedIn profile. The contents of the plan can consist of additional studies or finding a job, depending on your skill level, ways of learning and career wishes. In addition to this plan, you’ll also create a reference project during the training, which will act as further support for your employment.

How do we learn at Buutti?

Our trainings are a combination of carefully curated theory, practical assignments and personal guidance. On theory lectures, we teach the wider concepts and their connections, creating a basis for practical learning. The theory is then put into use through assignments that you’ll work on in teams, through which you’ll gain valuable concrete experience. Your progress will be monitored and any issues resolved in weekly check-up conversations. You’ll never have to deal with issues alone, because the support of the trainers and tutors is always available.

Who are our trainers?

The trainers at Buutti are software developers themselves. This means that they don’t just think that they know what a developer does, but they can tell you about their own prior experience.

Is the training suitable for you?

If you’re interested in programming as a career, the training is right for you. If you wish to figure out the basics of programming, building websites or creating applications, this training is a great place to get the ball rolling. You’re not expected to have any prior programming experience, just a basic understanding of IT is enough. You can be switching careers or just beginning your work life, but the main thing is that you’re genuinely interested in working in the IT sector.

To apply, you need to be a client of the TE-office or the municipality employment experiment. The training takes place in Oulu, and is organized as a combination of contact teaching and remote studies, so applicants are required to be able to attend the training in Oulu. In addition, the applicants are required to have fluent English or Finnish language skills.

Applying and selection

This training has a two-step application process. First, send in your application to the TE-office, and then to Buutti. You can send your application to Buutti immediately after sending it to the TE-office.

1. Apply for the TE-office

Fill in the application on the TE-office website through the “Hae tähän koulutukseen” -button. If you’re filling an electric application without bank verification, you’ll have to verify your application at the TE-office prior to the end of the application period. The code of the training is 708914.

2. Apply to Buutti Education

We invite applicants for interviews based on the applications, so please fill your application carefully. Tell us about your interest toward the training and your possible prior experience in the industry.
